Oskar reprises the role of Pausanias in Emmanuel Chabrier’s rarely-performed Une Education Manquée at Holt Festival 2017 (6pm July 29th) and Grimeborn (7.30pm August 2nd).
Set in the time of Louis XVI, Une Education Manquée is the tale of two very young aristocrats who have just been married but are totally innocent of the facts of life: the tutor to whom the young Count turns for advice has spent his whole life out of the world amid books and is equally ignorant. It is only when the disappointed bride, frightened by a thunderstorm, seeks refuge in her husband’s arms that the ‘problem’ solves itself.
